West Los Angeles College's Computer Science/Computer Applications Division is well suited to help you prepare for the explosion in the technology industries. Computers are everywhere in our everyday personal and professional lives. Offices are fully equipped with a computer on every desk, files are stored on hard disk drives and the Internet is a major tool used by most businesses. In our personal lives, computer technology is in our automobiles, household appliances down to a personal computer in every home. This places a strong demand for computer professionals. The computer fields typically offer excellent salaries, benefits and working conditions. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the top twenty fastest growing occupations, one in four is computer related. The number two is also technology related, computer network administrators and data communications analysts. At WLAC, you can now begin your preparation to join these industries. We offer a complete and full range of classes in computer technology and applications. Many of our classes are on computer security and web development. We are also a training facility for Cisco Systems wide area network hardware support and Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) training for network and security management. Professionals who earn the MCSE recognition are considered experts and are sought after industry wide. What it CostsThe enrollment fee for California residents is $26 per unit with additional fees for health ($8.00 for Winter Sessions and $11.00 for Spring Sessions) and a $1.00 student representation fee. Please refer to the current catalog in the section labeled, "Financial Aid" or visit the Financial Aid Office for assistance in determining eligibility for Enrollment Fee Waiver Assistance. Other ServicesWLAC has a host of on campus organizations, library services and a Transfer Center to assist you during your time with us. The library offers complete reference services, Information Competency Workshops and an Internet Research Lab. On campus clubs include both professional and social organizations. The WLAC Transfer Center is available to those students who are either transferring into WLAC or those who plan to transfer on to a four year university.
